Where Have All The People Gone?

Have you noticed daily blogging is all but at a stand still? Not just for me, but for most of my blogroll too.

Lately, I'm lucky to get out 1 post every 10 days or so, and hell, 2 posts in one week is like hitting the friggin jackpot!

I mean sure, there are a few superstars like Her , and like Her and Her (who is amazing btw).
But for the most part, good daily bloggers are not nearly as numerous as they once were.

At first, I thought maybe it was that we'd lost our mojo,
or maybe had run out of things to say.

Then I thought that maybe all of us just got busy.
You know, a life gets in the way kinda thing.

Next, I thought maybe everyone was addicted to playing
on-line games. You know, where the hours fly by without
notice. When you do finally notice, who has time to post
when you have a mere 20 minutes to fake clean, throw
together a quickie dinner, shower and dress before your
family gets home and finds out you've been playing gin
and penguin blocks all day? I'm just guessing at that, btw.
I do not know about that first hand.

Ahem... OOOh look! Something shiny!

Oh my dear sweet blog reading Internet, that isn't the case at all. You see, I've come up with this theory of where all of the bloggers have gone, and I have just two words for you:

SOCIAL MEDIA

Yes, that's right my pretties. Social media is all, "HERE! NOW! INSTANT REACTION, INTERACTION AND SATISFACTION!"

Withing seconds, thousands of people know that Demi & Ashton are having twitter foreplay.

You can also watch Jessica Simpson, via video twitter, do some ear candling. Which, hello? OUCH.

On facebook, you can keep up to-the-minute with everyone you know, use to know, and sometimes wish you didn't know. You can comment on each other's walls, send funny bumper stickers, virtual drunks and even Christmas cheer. You can also post photo albums, take quizzes AND play games all at the same time.

And that? Has all but killed blogging.

I think that when we post snippets 10, 20, 30 times a day about what's going on, what's happening in our lives at this moment, and etc., we suck the life out of any ability to formulate a post. We have already divided our day into tiny chunks, loosing the flow of the day and the story it use to tell by the time evening came around.

There are times when social media is a must, life saver, and a way of keeping your loved ones up to date when time is critical. It's also alot less pressure when you only have to write a couple short sentences verses a thought out post.

But, I think our creativity gets lost.

So, in closing, this just proves my point. Just as I've always suspected, Facebook is of the devil! I knew there was way more behind all of the dreaded flair and farmtown!

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go check my wall, change my status message and see what's happening with P-diddy, Kelly Rippa, and Larry King.

I so agree. There have been so many times that I have thought about blogging but just haven't taken the time to put it all into words. I miss all the reading too but I guess since I tend to be on hiatus much of the time I can't complain.

I agree too - though, like Tammy - I can't really complain either..

I used to blog at least 5 times a week. I still think about doing it often but my creativity is kaput.

I'm still kicking though.
